Privacy Policy — Tailor My Resume

Last updated: April 2026

This privacy policy explains what data Tailor My Resume (the Chrome extension and its backend service) collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what rights you have over your data. It is written in plain English, not legal jargon.

1. What data is collected

Your resume content

When you upload a resume (PDF or DOCX), the extension extracts the text from your file locally in your browser. That text — including your name, contact information, work history, education, and skills — is then sent to our backend server for AI-powered parsing. If your PDF is image-based (scanned), your resume pages are rendered as images and those images are sent to our server instead.

Job descriptions

When you analyze a resume against a job posting, the job title, company name, and full job description text are sent to our server.

Resume edits and tailored content

When you request AI suggestions, rephrase a bullet point, generate interview answers, or export a PDF, the relevant resume content and job description are sent to our server for processing.

Google account information (on sign-in)

Signing in with Google gives us access to the following (scopes: openid, email, profile):

This information is stored in our database and is used to identify your account, enforce usage limits, and manage your subscription tier (Free, Pro, or Lifetime).

Usage data

Every time you use a feature (analyze, rephrase, parse, export), we record:

This is stored per-user to enforce daily and monthly usage limits. We do not store the content of your resume or job descriptions in our database.

Data stored locally in your browser

The extension stores the following in Chrome's local storage on your device:

This data stays on your device and is not synced to Google's servers.

Payment data

If you upgrade to Pro or Lifetime, payments are processed by Razorpay. We share your user ID and email address with Razorpay so your account can be upgraded after a successful payment. We do not see or store your card number, bank details, or any other payment credentials — Razorpay handles all of that.

2. How data is used

We do not use your resume content or job descriptions for any purpose other than providing the features you explicitly trigger.

3. Who data is shared with

Third party What is shared Why
Anthropic (Claude API) Resume text, job description text, bullet points, interview questions To power AI features (parsing, analysis, rephrasing, answer generation)
Google Your OAuth token (for verification) To confirm your identity when you sign in
Razorpay Your user ID and email address To create payment orders and subscriptions
Cloudflare All data sent to the server passes through Cloudflare's infrastructure Our backend runs on Cloudflare Workers; our database is hosted on Cloudflare D1

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other parties not listed above.

When your resume is sent to Anthropic's API, Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models by default, per their API usage policy. You can review Anthropic's privacy practices at anthropic.com/privacy.

4. How data is stored and for how long

Server database (Cloudflare D1)

The following data is stored in our server-side database indefinitely until you delete your account:

Locally on your device

Data in Chrome's local storage remains on your device until you sign out, uninstall the extension, or clear browser storage.

Resume and job description content

Your resume content and job descriptions are sent to our server and to Anthropic's API for processing, but they are not stored in our database. They exist in server memory only for the duration of the API call (typically a few seconds) and are discarded after the response is returned to you.

Exported HTML

When you export a PDF, the rendered HTML of your resume is sent to our server, used to generate a PDF, and then discarded. It is not stored.

5. Security measures

No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please contact us at the address in Section 9.

6. Your rights

Access

You can view the data we hold about your account (email, name, profile picture, tier, usage counts) by looking at the account section inside the extension.

Correction

Your name, email, and profile picture are pulled from your Google account. To update them, update your Google profile and sign out and back in to the extension.

Deletion

To delete your account and all associated data from our servers (usage logs, usage counts, account record), email us at the address in Section 9 with the subject line "Delete my account". We will process your request within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Data stored locally on your device must be cleared by uninstalling the extension.

Sign out

Signing out of the extension removes your OAuth token from local storage and revokes it with Google, ending your session.

Subscription cancellation

If you are on a Pro subscription, cancelling through Razorpay will trigger a downgrade to the Free tier. Your account data and usage history are retained unless you also request account deletion.

7. Children's privacy

Tailor My Resume is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, via a notice in the extension).

Your continued use of Tailor My Resume after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact
